First, choose which axle stub shaft you will be using. If its a Axial Wraith/XR, choose Axial Wraith/XR stub shaft. If its 8mm stub shaft, choose 8mm stub shaft. If its Berg, choose Berg and so forth. Keep in mind that the Berg takes many different types of stub shafts. It can use Berg, Axial or 8mm so please know which shafts you have. SCX2 uses a Axial Wraith/XR type stub shaft.
Second, choose which carrier hub you are using on your car. If its a Axial Wraith/XR, choose Axial Wraith/XR. If its AX10, choose AX10. Berg is the same as AX10, SCX2 is the same as AX10, Ascender is the same as Wraith.
Third, choose what type of steering arms you would like. The weights for each material are below. Also choose what type of upper arm you would like. The double arms have arms that will go in front and behind the axle. The single arms will only have arms that either go in front or behind the axle. When ordering a double arm, stock XR10 style will be assumed. The right side (U.S.A. passenger side) will be the assumed double side and the left (U.S.A. driver's side) the single side pointed towards the rear of the car (behind the axle tie rod). If you plan on putting the double arm on the left side, please send an email and I can make this happen. The only double arm that comes in proper ackerman is a carbon fiber arm.
Fourth, choose whether you want slug holes in the knuckles and slugs to go with. This is a great option for tuning the weight of the knuckle as you can put the slugs in to add weight and take them out to remove weight. Please see weight changes below.
4 Slugs weigh:
7g in aluminum
Zero Ackerman makes it so both tires turn the same angle. Proper Ackerman arms make it so the outside tire turns sharper than the inside to make your car turn sharper because the steering restriction is always the inside tire hitting something (usually the lower link). This is done at the cost of the tie rod being 1/8" narrower.
Weights for the knuckles are below. These values are very approximate and can change quite a bit depending on bearings used, slug holes etc.
All weights are per piece.
Aluminum base weight approx 31g
Brass base weight approx 90g
Carbon upper arm 4g
Carbon lower arm 3g
Aluminum upper arm 7g
Aluminum lower arm 5g
Brass upper arm 22g
Brass lower arm 14g
1.9 Heavy brass lower 56.5g
2.2 Heavy brass lower 107g
